3 MARCH 2020 | GAME DRIVES AT SERENGETI AND NDUTU - STAY AT NDUTU

The group will have an early morning game drive. As the sun sets fire to the savannah, we will have the best opportunity to see predators in action as they take advantage of the low light and cooler temperatures to look for an early meal. It's an ideal time to see lions, leopards and cheetahs in action as well as the early morning movements of wildebeest, zebra, and other herbivores. After the morning drive, we will return to the lodge for a late breakfast and to freshen up before hitting the road again with a picnic lunch (packed lunch). We will then travel to the southern part of Serengeti, known as 'Ndutu'. During this period of the year, wildebeest herds usually congregate in the Ndutu region which is then the stage for a lot of action. We will select the best possible route based on the animal movement so as to maximize the opportunities to see the region's diverse wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Ndutu.
(Meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner)

DAY 4

4 MARCH 2020 | GAME DRIVES AT NDUTU - STAY AT NDUTU

One more day to explore the endless plains in the Tanzanian savannah! Based on the previous day's sighting, animal movements and interest of the group members, we will plan our day in such a way that we get to see the jewels of Ndutu. This period of the year being calving season of the wildebeest, we will be able to see many new brons, which in turn attracts a lot of predatory action!Overnight at Ndutu.
(Meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Post early breakfast, we explore Ndutu for first half of the day. Ndutu is also known for its higher density of predators - especially the Cheetah! We later travel towards the Ngorongoro Crater National Park. (about 100 km - 2 to 3 hours by road). The drive from Ndutu to Ngorongoro also offers plenty of opportunities to spot the animals that eluded us on previous days. A brief introduction to Tanzania:
Tanzania - officially the United Republic of Tanzania is a country in the African Great Lakes region of East Africa. Its capital city is Dodoma. But Dar es Salaam remains the central administrative and most prominent city in Tanzania. Africa's tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, is located in north-eastern Tanzania.
Agriculture is a major employer here, with Sugar and Maize being the most popular crops. However the country also produces other crops like Sweet Potatoes, Beans, Millet, Rice, Cotton, Bananas, Cashew, Tea and Coffee.

Currency: Tanzanian Shilling (TZS)
Official Languages: English, Swahili
Geography and Climate:The north-eastern region near Mount Kilimanjaro is mountainous and densely forested, while the central part is composed of plains and grasslands.
Located south of the equator, Tanzania is huge and the climate varies considerably within it.The country has temperatures rarely falling lower than 20 °C. The hottest period extends between November and February (25–31 °C) while the coldest period occurs between May and August (15–20 °C).The coastal region is generally hot and humid.
Tanzania has 2 major rainfall seasons - the 'long rains', during March to May and the 'short rains' experienced during October to December.

Wildlife of Tanzania:Tanzania has about 16 different wildlife reserves. Close to 38% of the land is included under 'protected area'. Protected areas like the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the world famous Serengeti offer ample opportunities to see the famous Big 5 as well as countless other animals, birds, and insects the likes of which you cannot see elsewhere in the world!
Tanzania can boast 20% of Africa's large mammal population, a stunning number that you will soon realize is no exaggeration.
When it comes to tracking down the Big 5 or viewing the other wildlife, you can't do any better than this stunning east African country.

Paleontological importance:Fossils remains of human ancestors dating back about 2 million years have been found at Olduvai Gorge, making it one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. The discoveries here have been instrumental in understanding the human evolution.

Destination information
Serengeti and Ndutu:
Located in northern Tanzania, Serengeti is truly vast, covering an area of about 15000 sq km.Word 'Serengeti' is derived from the Maasai phrase 'siringet' which translates to 'endless plains'. Serengeti is Tanzania's most famous national park, where a lot of activities can be seen throughout the year. Regardless of when you visit, the Serengeti is the best place to see lions, cheetahs, leopards, and thousands of herbivores in their natural habitat. The presence of these predators in no way dissuades herbivores from calling the region home, and visitors can expect to see everything from a variety of antelopes to towering elephants and giraffes. The distinct changeover from rich flat soils in the south, to the hilly soils in the north, leads to a great diversity of vegetation and habitats across the park. With more than 500 bird species recorded, this is a birdlife paradise. The Serengeti-Mara ecosystem is one of Africa's Endemic Bird Areas.
Ngorongoro:
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. The crater was formed about 2 to 3 million years ago, when a large volcano exploded and collapsed inwards, forming a huge bowl like landform. From the crater rim, the crater floor is about 600 meters deep and the floor covers about 260 sq.km. area. The crater floor is about 1800 meters above the mean sea level and is cooler throughout the year. This is the most unique wildlife regions in the world and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site! The crater has a fantastic density of animals throughout the year, which include the enigmatic black rhinoceros, the cape buffalo, hippopotamus and herds of zebra and wildebeest which are seen grazing across the crater's cloud dappled plains. The crater is home to all the Big 5 of Africa – Lions, Elephants, Cape Buffaloes, Rhinoceros and Leopard. The Magadi Lake inside Ngorongoro crater attracts thousands of lesser flamingos.
